Sirius loves Hogwarts.
Perhaps it’s not just the crazy architecture, the unpredictable, temperamental stairways, the winding labyrinths, cranky portraits, and frankly creepy décor. Perhaps it’s not just the clean sheets, open halls, the sound of laughter, the smell of learning, and the thin crackle of ancient magic beneath the surface of the walls.
Perhaps it’s not just the piping hot meals, the friendly classmates, the words of approval, of adoration. Perhaps it’s not just that home was hell and this was heaven.
Perhaps it’s just thinking, years later, as he stands in front of the Fat Lady with a knife, ready to save James’ son and kill James’ murderer-
-perhaps it’s just thinking that, sometime in the past, he has been right here before-
- and thinking that he was happy there, that time.
