Wooo! I really need to post more often.

Got back from MFF a few hours ago. Not going to try and do some big con-report thing since I don't tend to do much to warrant one, but it was a fun vacation anyway. :p Vacation itself started Monday before MFF, where I just sat around home all day. XD Tuesday afternoon kilroyfirelizrd came over, and we crammed my stuff in his car and headed to Merrilville to ( Read more... )

Doesn't cost all that much, especially if you can find a few folks to split room costs with. Most of the expense of a con comes from all the extra fun stuff like art and t-shirts. XD

Yeah, my room at the Super 8 was only $110 after tax, and that was for 3 nights (I decided that it would be a bad idea to try driving home at 0X:XX in the morning.) I think I spent at least that much on "stuff" (art, shirts, &c.) at the con.

Looks like next year's stay at the Motel 6 near the new MFF location will be $180 after tax though. :-( Maybe I should try splitting it with someone, I dunno.

Don't know if it helps you any, but my digital camera has a mode labeled "P/M" on the selector, and it lets you switch from auto-focus to manual-focus, set the ISO speed (Auto/64/100/200/400/800/1600), some +/- number that seems to make it get brigther/darker, and something that switches between "P" (which has some greyed-out settings (f#.# and 1/#) that do their own thing) and "M" (that lets you set whatever those settings are yourself).

Needless to say, I really don't understand most of these settings, but it seems that if I want to manually focus I should leave the one setting on "P", leave the +/- thing at 0.0, leave ISO at Auto, and switch "AF" to "MF" (and of course adjust the focus as needed.)

X_X Yeah, I don't understand any of that. XD I don't know if my camera has those options or not. It's a Sony Cybershot, which is supposed to have "Steady shot" abilities, but they don't seem to do a damn bit of good.

I saw you around the convention a few times, especially in the Con Suite. I need to stop being so anti-social and say hello one of these days. XD

Well, like I said, about the only part of the settings on that mode I understand is changing AutoFocus to Manual Focus, and moving the little slider to set the focus, so I leave the rest of it on auto.

I think some of the Sony Cybershot ones also have semi-manual focus, where you set it about where you want it and it fine-thues it from there, but mine's a Kodak EasyShare Z1285, so I wouldn't really know.

Guh, I wish I could've gone but unfortunately work dragged my ass and I couldn't leave. I hope you had a great time there!

You'll just have to make sure you come next year. *nodnod*

Working on saving up for my second vacation now, and I gotta start trying to get my passport stuff ready so I don't end up not having it in time. I don't know how long that stuff takes around here. I gotta make you draw in my sketchbook! :p
