While I think the fees are a bit high in some cases, why are people so bitchy about overdraft fees at banks? Make sure you have money before you try and take it out of your bank account. I haven't really had trouble with this, but I'd imagine part of the problem for some people is how some banks apparently take forever to process deposits but process expenditures right away.
Or even just all the ones where they'll simply process a weekend's expenditures all before they process any weekend deposits (incuding Fridays-after-XX:00 deposits, of course.)

And the whole excessive fees thing, of course.
