Today we took my cat Kiri to the vet and gave him freedom from his arthritis, his asthma, his diabetes, his kidney disease, his thirst and pain. It was not easy but it was the right decision for all of us. We did everything we could for him, but it was time. He couldn't even sleep comfortably anymore. I'll be happy to see him, Nan. And I'm pretty sure I'll have plenty of shrimp and other goodies when the time comes...

His was one of the most gentle passings I've ever been priveleged to assist, and as much as I wish I hadn't had to do it, I'm glad I could help it be that easy for him.

*hugs*

I am so very glad and grateful that you've stuck with us through it all... I know it hasn't always been easy; I'm sure I don't always make it easy!

You're a treasured friend and one of the most caring vets I've ever known. Your caring was the reason Kiri could be at ease in your office, and not upset or panicked. He fought hard to live when he had his seizure and through his bad times. When it was truly his time, though, he just took the path you gave him without resistance or regrets. He got to walk confidently over that bridge and into the next world.

You're a miracle worker, Ruth. Some miracles are just less obvious than others. ♥

*hugs you* I'm sorry to hear about his passing, but I'm glad that it was so full of peace and love. Despite his many health troubles, he was truly blessed to be surrounded by so much care all his life.

Thanks, Jen. I was blessed to have a pet that who could teach me so much about physical and emotional care, and patience in the face of adversity -- and still be an awesome friend at the same time. I can say Kiri was a true friend to us from the beginning to the very end.

I'm glad I got to be his friend, too.

And yours! :) (((huggs)))

I'm so sorry. As terrible as it is that it was his time to go, I'm glad you and his vet staff could make it easier for him. I'm sorry I never got to meet him. He sounded like a wonderful creature.

I'm so sorry. And I do know just how you feel. Losing a feline baby is very hard, but having it happen at the hands of a good, loving vet helps so much. We don't know what we'd do without Dr. Bob.

Kiri will definitely be there on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for you. Imagine how mobbed good vets must be when they pass!
