Ok so I was looking everywhere online. It was hard to really determine if the kitty had been abandoned. And that made me very hesistant to get the cat...but thank God the mother was down there w/the kitty. The mom looks really sick but it might be exhaustion from birthing. She also had tears in her eyes (do cats cry) b/c I read that if she had ( Read more... )

So the mother cat got up and went down under the deck to be with the kitten? Is she still down there with it, or did she leave it again, or did she bring it back up with her?

Cats do get teary-eyed sometimes, especially when really stressed out...

Keep an eye on both/all of them. And please, please, please take them to see a vet very, very soon (if you want to take them in for examination tonight, there are a couple 24-hour clinics around Indy - one near the airport, I know for sure).

Good luck. :)

yes she's still w/it so no abondonment so that's good. and I have a feeling this was her first litter. And even the websites said that a first timer would be a bit confused and dazed and she def. is and she kept wanting us to rub her and I think it was the labor. for sure getting her checkout as soon as it seems good to move the baby...the problem now is that the kitty is in the middle of the deck (underneath) so we can't just stick our hands in to get it...you know? not that we will now that she's w/it. but we're calling a vet tomorrow to see what they suggest. I'm just glad she's w/the baby--it's some sense of normalacy :) thanks for your help!! I think you and I could give a course in birthing a cat now lol
