MFM 2009

Finally I have some time off to write a post about MFM (Mephit Fur Meet) 2009.

We arrive on thursday night and mingle with the very few furs that have already checked in. We played a little "Who's the werewolf?". I could not quite understand that game, I kept telling them that "I WAS THE WEREWOLF" :p. Little therian joke I guess. No, actually it was a fun game and I enjoyed it but we played like for just half an hour because everyone was tired.

Friday we spent most of the time meeting people. Well, actually it was
cassen_grrrl who kept reuniting with all her old fur friends (She could not go to last years' MFM) but it was mostly me being introduced to all her friends and meeting new friends (or should I say mostly hugging and scritching, which is also pretty good). My first order of business was GETTING A TAIL. From confurtiva (first mexican fur con ever held) I was able to make some very nice gold wolf ears (I am a grey werewolf but well, there was no grey fur), so now I needed a tail to match. Fortunately, at the Dealers' den, there was this guy (I promise I will update the post with his name) that, in my humble opinion, had the best tails I've ever seen (at least at MFM 2009). I had to have one of his. The thing was that there was this grey wolf tail which was great but slightly less bushier that I wanted to be, and this golden bushier wolf tail that I fall in love with, specially because it matched more or less the color of my wolf ears. Long story short, and 60 USD later, I had a tail.

And I could not be happier about having a tail. The feeling is mostly like having a real tail. When I bought it, it was mostly to be more in tune to my animal side, the wolf. But after wearing it, I could feel a pressure right on my tailbone like if it was connected. And anything my tail touched (or if someone else touched it by passing by or intentionally :p) I felt it just like a... like a real tail. Every time I had to take my tail away (to sleep unfortunately or to use the computer because the chairs in the rooms are non-tail friendly) I felt I was losing a piece of me.

Well, enough about the tail rant and back to the con, saturday. The fursuiters' parade was great. I fail to remember the number of fursuiters (70-something I think) but I have plenty of photos so I will try to upload one of them on the following week (most likely until next weekend as I will have to work a lot to catch up on everything). After that I had to buy some Titan's jersey a friend of mine wanted and could not find it in Mexico, had some late breakfast and then I was finally back for the Shamanic Shapeshifting conference. I am much into the whole shapeshifting thing because of being a therian wolf, but even so I learned a few things from the conference (or actually I was able to understand some of the things/feelings that I experienced a few years back when experimenting with meditation), but mostly it was quite boring and for the most part, the typical things you hear at werelist or any other old therian group. The concepts of 'I know everything, you are wrong','you are human, deal with it' is what made most groups fail or become so radical that no one wants to ever post anything out of their sets of beliefs because of fear of being attacked. (sorry for any werelist people watching this, that was my experience).

Oh, I was forgetting. One very important thing, that my friend
cassen_grrrl  forgot to mention to me before leaving Mexico was the fact that I didn't commission a conbadge. So, at registration we had our regular (just text) conbadges and suddenly, on friday, she went to the dealers' den to pick hers. After a little rant, I commissioned a conbadge to the same guy she commissioned hers dook). I picked the conbadge up today (saturday) and... IT WAS GREAT. It's sooo cool so thanks again dook if you are reading this.

So, right now after posting this, is to go downstairs to the karaoke night and just have some more good time here at MFM. The only thing I am missing is the fact that, at the dealers' den, there are not many furry t-shirts (ok, there are like 6 from the same guy and that's it). I really wanted to buy a lot of wolf/werewolf shirts but well... I guess I can always order them online anyway and pay the shipping/handling to Mexico (quite expensive sometimes, impossible a few times).

Thanks for reading.
