i think i strongly disagree with you on that one.
i don't think you can forget about the love you felt at one time, and i don't think you can stop feeling for someone altogether, but i definitely feel it can change forms. (kinda like the law of conservation of mass... cannot be created or destroyed, blah di blah di blah)
take for example, my father. i loved him at once. kids tend to do that to their fathers. human nature, you know. but i feel no love toward him whatsoever, and there is no denial there. there is hurt and resentment and anger and bitterness and hatred, but no love. love is such a powerful thing that it takes a lot to shift its form, but when it does, it absolutely explodes.
and then there are always debates, when it comes to high school relationships, what love is in the first place. you can lose it if it was never really there-- its the illusion that is lost.

I'd say that's an idealistic view, but if your past experiences let you be idealistic, then you're luckier than most.
