'Wow' squared 2x is more or less the reaction to this chapter. XD A-W-E-S-O-M-E. (Yup, coherency just flew out of the window.) This update was so well worth the wait, especially now that there are 4 'mirrors'. ^^

The most mysterious so far would have to be the 3rd, but since Mustang and Armstrong are going to Ishbal (why do I have a feeling that the texts 1st mirror Elric brothers translated will play into this? ;) ) I'm sure some light will be shed in the near future.

Oh, and Ed & Al in the 4th verse! Really like that idea (I've played with Ed and Al's minds myself on occasion and it's just too much fun not to.) ^^;

Will there be a fifth and a sixth mirror? Then I might have to start taking notes on which is which. ^^ Just kidding - each verse is unique enough on it's own to differentiate easily.

Conclusion? Fav~ing! XD XD

Given that I'm having to go back and reread just to keep straight where I left each of the current mirrors before going on to the next scene in the sequence, I think I've got all the mirrors I need. Other alternate histories may turn up as spot scenes here and there, depending on how badly things fall apart for the time travelers, but they won't be running plot threads of their own.

The Ishbalans and their texts are indeed going to play a strong and mystical role in the untangling of this skein of plots, and the resolution of the potential paradoxes.

Thanks for reading!

Lol! you know what they say: better late than never. ^^
Hey, you said 'timetravelers' - plural, so I guess Ed&Al won't let Mustang have all the fun than XD Yay! *has visions of Ed 1st mirror meeting messed up Fullmetal. Now that would be explosive... That's moving past the fact that hughes will be there...* Happy speculating :)

*Chuckle.* Well--consider that kidlet-Roy is a time-traveler, too...but you're right, Roy isn't going to be the only one bouncing around in time.

As for First-Mirror Ed meeting Second-Mirror Ed--hey, don't get ahead of me! ;) That will be a dramatic moment, and Hughes will probably witness it as well. "Explosive" is one way to describe the scene that's lurking around my hindbrain, but it won't happen for a while yet. There are some other scenes that have to happen first to set up that meeting and explain something of how Second-Mirror Ed ended up as psychotic as he is and why he's interested in little Roy.

Roy may be confused in the icon, but I'm not, for the record. I really like where you're going with all this. I can see almost invisible links between the different mirrors. And of course, only one of the mirrors has any idea what's going on. I can't wait for more. ^_^

OK, I won't spill the beans mfelizandy August 25 2008, 18:23:09 UTC
Keeping the exact identity and nature of the rogue alchemist a mystery is one of the biggest challenges in writing this story. I want him to be a "surprise that makes sense", when he finally shows himself.

As for a complex plot--it gets more complex with every new part I write. It will eventually come together and make sense--but the likes of Hughes will probably complain about needing a scorecard just to keep track of events.

Thanks for the comment, and I hope you enjoy Part Nine, now that I've finally posted it!

I like third mirror! Roy Mustang and Alex Armstrong conversations are always interesting. Fourth mirror freaks me out. *Pokes it*

Part of the fun in this story was coming up with the differences, large and small, between the timelines. It's interesting to see what shapes the characters and their stories will take if just a few things happen differently. Ed and Al are particularly easy to work with, and one can do rather outlandish things with them...it helps me keep the Mirrors straight, actually, to have the Elrics handled differently in every one. I'm rather proud of the Fourth Mirror. Writing the dialogue between those Elrics is almost as natural and easy as writing dialogue between Roy and Maes--it just flows right along and goes where it needs to without any prodding.
