This is a bit late to be announcing it, but Amazon.com and Penguin Putnam are presenting a contest called the "Breakthrough Novel Award." The winner gets a $25,000 advance from Penguin, their novel published, and a professional review by Publisher's Weekly. The work must be unpublished, and 50-150,000 words in length. No, it wouldn't hurt one bit! If you want any help with beta-ing, polishing, making sure it fits all the rules, let me know. And yes, I wear the pants in this relationship. They may be pinstriped and of dubious tailoring, but they are pants nonetheless!
