This weekend - where we'll be

Because I've already got two nigh-direct queries as to my availability this weekend, we've been booked for almost a year now to go to Chuck-a-Con, a local gaming convention. It's small and new and needs all the attendees that it can get, so we go because we can ( Read more... )

What games are you planning to play and when? I've got only a few things to do this weekend, and it sounds fun.

Depending on the RPGA scenarios played, I want to get in on at least one of those. The late evening Conspiracy X looks interesting, I'll have to see if I can try that, although I'm not familiar with the system at all. And it would conflict with Tide of Iron, hmm. I'll have to decide when I get there I guess :) There isn't a time listed for the Race for the Galaxy game, but I'm always up for that.

Aside from that I suspect it'll be a case of bringing a few games and just grabbing people. That often works - anything from our collection you want me to bring? We've got more than a few games....

I haven't been to your place in a couple years, so I have no idea. If I can go (which would be Sat daytime) I might try some rpgs (mainly interested in trying 4ED, since I am an old 3/3.5 player) or watch the SW minis. I was hoping there would be Warhammer40k going on, too, but it doesn't look like it.

Heh, 4th is definitely different than 3/3.5, I should know, I switch between 4 and 3 each week in two campaigns. The main thing to remember in 4th is they categorized each class into several broad categories, for easier classification. That way whether you're playing a fighter, a paladin or a swordmage, you're always playing a defender. Strikers deal damage and status effects to one or a few targets at a time. Controllers manage the battlefield with things like fireball, damaging many targets at once, or with walls of ice, forcing them to dance to their wills. Leaders enable other classes to do useful things, like make special attacks or heal on command or make saving throws against status effects. When the four roles are represented, the party is at their strongest.

It's fun.
