I've finally got some time to write something here (and LJ being down didn't help either of course!)
We've done a lot and yet not as much as we wanted the last few days..
Thursday: We went to Jekyll in the afternoon with the kids and it's really a great place, some very nice places there! Took some pictures and will put those up soon. It got pretty chilly and windy that day, when we were driving back from the Japanese place (Cate's sister works there) I said it was great weather to walk on the beach, with the wind and all. So we went to St. Simon and walked on the path along the beach, the beach itself was under water due to high tide and the storm. It was chilly but very invigorating, we stood on the pier for a while and just enjoyed hearing the water crash on the rocks. I love that sound!
Friday: We got up early to have breakfast in a small place on St. Simon, near the lighthouse with Cate's mom. I went for the French toast, I can't think of eating bacon and eggs in the morning.. I tried that last Saturday and that wasn't a success. Early in the afternoon we drove to Jacksonville, to visit the Budweiser factory for a tour, which was cool but rather short. We didn't have that much time since we had to be back in Brunswick round 6pm for dinner at a Japanese steakhouse. Boy that's fun to see your food prepared right in front of your eyes! And it tasted really good as well! After dinner we went back home, played a card game with the kids and then went to a bar nearby. Some of her colleagues were there and she didn't really feel like socialising with them, so we went to another one. The same one we went to the first night I got here, again on St. Simon. Before we went home we stood out on the pier again for a while and we saw some dolphins! (Not all that clearly due to darkness)
Saturday: Cate's kids had a chess tournament some 1.5 hours away from here, past Savannah. The matches started pretty early 10:30am and registration was at 9:30am at the latest, so we had to leave fairly early.. which was tough due to the small amount of sleep we got the night before. We got there just in time and watched the tournament and/or read a book. Cate's son won 5 out of 5 matches and therefor the tournament for his age-group.. He got a huge trophee for it. Her daughter also played an drew 2 matches and had a by for one, helping her team to win first place.
After we'd had dinner, Cate and I saw Elektra in the cinema (3rd movie in the cinema in 3 weeks). The movie was okay, the ending ruined it though for me though, it just seemed too easy an ending to me.
The other movie we saw in the theatre the other day was National Treasure, which is a fun action/adventure type movie and I really enjoyed watching that!
