Because I need something to blog about and a clickbait-y headline never hurt. These are not kitchen essentials per-say, but the things I would pack to take with me if I was moving to the woods and never coming back.

1. A good cast iron frying pan.  I stole mine from my mother when I moved out ngl and it's just great.

Ooh, I keep meaning to go buy a cast iron pan from the Stove Store right next to my building, during the 2 hours a day they are open. Maybe this week.

1. A box of nitrile gloves. Cooking meat is so much less gross. Also, you can stretch them over the top of a cup of delicious booze you can't quite finish to keep it fizzy in the fridge.
2. Balsamic vinegar reduction in a squeezy bottle. Best sandwich magic.
3. Frozen Eggo waffles. To soothe the savage toddler.
4. Actually, milk. Endless milk. All the milk. Oh my god how much milk can one child drink.
5. Gin! How much gin can one mama drink? QUITE A BIT.

if you get a cast iron pan, make sure the bottom is thick enough. Companies these days are cheaping out with thinner pans which don't hold as consistent a heat.

also:

I totally agree with the gloves! I get mine from Costco. I find they're also super-handy in cleaning *up* the mess from raw meat.

I will have to try that balsamic reduction stuff (my brother is a big fan of it, I think)

i remember drinking SO MUCh milk as a kid and now i average like one latte every few months. of course, the up-side of growing up is switching to vodka >_>
