The CEO of the company that I work for is allowing everyone in the company to take up to 10 days paid leave to volunteer for the Katrina relief effort. The company will pay my transportation costs and reimburse me for any expenses toward helping the victims. What an unbelievable act of generosity!

That is really cool. Somehow, I don't think a state-run academic institution will do that....so are you gonna go help? You can take your wood shop with you to help rebuild...
