After reading an article about gerrymandering that complained about how the Democrats got more votes while the Republicans got more seats in congress, my eyes betrayed me and drifted down to the comments. When I'm concerned an article is showing overt bias or omitting a crucial piece of context (which is a subtler form of bias) I scan down through at least the top 20 comments to figure out whether people are "buying it". Thankfully, though the MTTI-- Mean Time To Idiocy-- in news comment forums is pretty short, once I filter out the partisan knee-jerks I usually find that the audience are not the gullible sheep they are often stereotyped as.
