Was in a car crash

Jan 01, 2008 21:50

Driving on I-57 from Champaign to Chicago I hit a patch of ice, spun out, and my rental car rolled over down the hill, stopping on it's side.

As far as I can tell so far, I'm not seriously injured.  I need to go back and get the stuff I failed to loot from the car when I climbed out.

Not much else to add at this time.

Woah. I'm glad you're alright! Yay seatbelts.

Did you have insurance to cover the rental vehicle?

I had my basic auto insurance. The deductible is a little high, so it might sting a bit. We'll see. I've been playing phone tag with the assessor.

Yeah, what he said.

Winter driving can be scary.

Uh... welcome to the I-57 Winter Crash Club, your official membership packet is in the mail.

Also, I am glad you're okay.

As stated in a prior conversation, I think we need a winter driving newsletter.

With handy tips like the IDOT website. Noted for future effort.

To reiterate everyone else:

Glad to see you're okay. Sorry it happened.

And, to be different:

How else the heck are you, man?

Hey friend of a friend mhoram100 January 5 2008, 01:43:00 UTC
I see to recall that you were introduced to me following the logic that we live in the same metro area and have mutual friends. We should actually talk or meet sometime. Sadly, all I've learned from skimming your LJ is that you're crazy in love with skiing, which I know nothing about.

I'm good, Don.
I had a really good time in Champaign and Chicago over the holidays.

I'm still acclimating to living on my own a little, but I've managed to keep squalor and depression at bay for the last few months, and I think I deserve some credit for that. I'm doing well with my classes (best job perk of working at Harvard is taking Harvard classes), well at work, and doing a sort of halfassed job of getting out of my place to meet new people.
