Crash update

Rented another car and drove back to the accident site with my mom.  Seventy miles or so each way, roads were pretty good until about 20 miles outside Gilman in Kankakee.

The roof of the drivers side was crumpled.  The car ended up in a slow moving, partially frozen over stream of water in a deep ditch beside the road.  Many of my things, ( Read more... )

Yes. I would hate the world to be deprived of thee, good sir.

Speaking of which, I seriously need to pop by when I'm in Chicago for a wedding this year. I miss your company something fierce.

I live in Boston now, so popping by in Chicago doesn't work well for me.

I too, am rather appreciative that I'm not dead, maimed, or otherwise permanently harmed.

Good point. And, I must say, IMSA's graduates are now entirely too far scattered for my tastes.

Think of it as your opportunity to see the world, one guest bed at a time.

Wow. Impressive. I was really really hoping Dune had survived--I figured that was probably one of the hardest things to replace (having no idea of the non-thing data on the computer).

Dune's survival is my little miracle.
Normally it would have been packed in the book bag that all my other books were in and which ended up in the water. However, I'd put it out in the car in a separate trip and then moved it under my seat because I didn't want it getting knocked around.

Getting it out of the car was a little treat in itself as it was perched precariously but for my clothes bag, above flowing river water. That I recovered it without any dampening pleases me irrationally well.

Holy Crap! Sorry your drive back was so harrowing, glad you made it home in one piece (and that you rare and precious Dune was spared *grin*)

But mostly glad you walked away unscathed. :)

Welcome to my wild and wooly friends list.

I've known your handle was massively linked by other LJ friends of mine, but without a pic, I didn't know who you were.

Glad to call you a friend, LJ wise or otherwise.
