I've been "learning" since I was born and I make lots of mistakes. I think I spoke better Croatian when I was 3 than I do now...which isn't such a good thing seeing as I moved to Croatia 3 months ago.

Since when are you interested in Croatian? Wow :))
Russian will help you lots with learning Croatian, that's how it was for me when I first started learning russian, although there are a LOT of differences.
If that really was your first attempt then I have a feeling you'll be fluent in a few months, but here goes the correction.

Zdravo isn't used in Croatia anymore, as it has socialistic and well, Serbian connotations. It's still used in Serbia.
'Doba' would be out of place here, it's used in different contexts. Here, "trenutačno učim.."
"ovde" and "vreme" would be correct in Serbian, where thez speak ekavian. In Croatian that would be "ovdje" and "vrijeme". It really *does* make a difference :P
"zato što je on prekrasan", "ležati na plažama"

Well.. I've always been interested in all things Slavic. After Russian, Serbo-Croatian seemed the most interesting to me. Now that I've finally got a decent hold on Russian and some free time coming up (yay, winter break), I figure I might as well start learning. I'm going to pick up some books when I go back and visit the States!

Indeed, this was my first attempt. I found an internet dictionary for supposedly "Croatian-only" words, but it appears I was using some Serb-isms!

Unfortunately I couldn't find enough resources on case declensions.

Dromo, don't confuse the girl please :). "Imaš talenat za jezici" is soooooo wrong :(. Grammatically totally incorrect :(! You can say "Talentirana si za jezike" instead...

No, not only Croatian. It would be "Talentovana si za jezike" in Serbian for instance, so it doesn't differ a lot from the Croatian version. The point is that your version is grammatically incorrect in any of the Slavic languages officially spoken in the former Yugoslavia :)...
