I hate these websites, I really do . . . I feel so many different emotions when I think about "pro-ana" and rage, as my icon shows, is just one of them.
articles about pro-ana/mia sites being dangerousherzchenMay 23 2005, 18:30:32 UTC
(hi! i found your blog through ed_recovery.)
i see what you mean about those articles giving ED sufferers the idea to seek out pro-ED sites... i don't wish the articles had never been published, and i also don't believe that even the pro-ED web sites should be banned (it would be a breach of freedom, yeah), so i'm not sure what can be done to actively help those pro-ana bloggers as the quoted student, Erika, wishes. i think it's v. important that these articles mention websites that promote recovery from EDs; this one mentions one in addition to LJ communities.
i almost think that magazines like cosmo and self can be just as triggering, because the articles and tips masquerade as being pro-health (constant, redundant ways to 'look great for summer' and airbrushed photos of superthin celebrities and models) but really send a message that undoubtedly glorifies thinness. but do i think they should be taken off the magazine racks? no, that wouldn't be right either.
