Poetry is ... Interesting

And weird. Very, very weird.
I didn't really enjoy "My Last Duchess" or "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." To enjoy something, you must understand it, and upon first read, I could just barely comprehend what was going on in these poems. Hm. Class discussion helped with this, but I kind of have to wonder what purpose these two poems have in our ( Read more... )

I think everyone loved the mixed tape poem. It was a lot easier to read after the others and it didn't read like an "old english" poem so it was fairly simple to comprehend.

I actually enjoyed "On the Subway" also. After a couple of reads, I could understand it much more clearly than many of the other poems. I think that you are right on with the fact that enjoyability equals understand-ability.
