yeah i can't understand stuff like this either.
teenagers need to know all the consequences sex can have. form pregnancy to aids. and if nobody tells them they can't blame them. *sigh*
but nevertheless i think when you have sex you have to be able to care for a child, because sex means responsibility!!! and when you are not old enough to accept that you probably shouldn't have sex. =)

Yeah, it's sad what some girls will do to keep their boyfriend, but, some of them do that.

Having lost my virginity at 14 and becoming pregnant at 17, and knowing perfectlmn well the potential consequences of my actions, I have tried so hard to instill in my kids a belie that sex w/o a condom is NEVER ok. One of my daughters friends (age 12) was handing them out at school yesterday. My daught tried to give hers to my son, who told her to keep it even if she saw no reason to have it right now...That's scary, for their ages, but common sensical, too. I don't like the abstinence campaign. It's freaking ridiculous.

Yeah, specially from what I've heard (I might be wrong), that, basically all the info they give is "Don't have sex or else...[insert some random Bible-inspired threat".

Sure, you might have that atittude, but come on, talk a bit about how to protect yourself from sexual diseases. And those I'm-abstinent rings really get on my nerves.

I haven't seen those! I started mentioning safe sex practices, age appropriately, when my kids were little. And when my son asked for condoms, I damn sure didn't fart around about it. I might not like it, but I'm nooing to ignore it. My mom tried to ignore it--my grandmom had to tell her to put me on the pill

I agree with the comments above. I think that it is important to begin having sex once you know you are able to care for a child. I disagree with all these teenage parents who leave the burden of taking care of a child to the baby's grandparents while they "keep on enjoying life" (call me old-fashioned, but if someone has a child, the least that person can do is to be able to care for him or her on their own and not depending on daddy's or mommy's... I have a classmate who had their kids while she was on high school, and her mum helped with raising those kids... now she complains endlessly about her mom not being able to let her raise her kids ( ... )

I agree with you. When you have a kid, you've got to take care of him, unless there are some really extenuating circumstances ( ... )

Thanks!

Well, I'm not saying these things don't happen, but I just wish they would less often.
