James Spader has had such an odd career... he was in Pretty in Pink as the "hot asshole" then show up a year later as a creepy asshole in Mannequin and then does more serious things like Less Than Zero and sex, lies and videotape... then runs off to sci-fi geekdom with Stargate....

he's kinda like Dennis Hopper without the cult-following credibility...
