Once again, I find myself tired of everything in my music library. I'm in major need of good, new music (new to me at least...not necessarily in terms of release dates). Recommendations, por favor?

Me too!

Ive just been listening to TONS of hip-hop lately.
I know you arnt a big fan, but I think you should at least try.

Here are a few Ive been playing excessively:
dead prez
talib kweli
mos def
the fugees
public enemy
kanye west
wu tang clan

besides that Ive also been listening to random jazz...

Also, the following things are on a constant rotation in my cd player/ipod: devendra banhart
defiance ohio
against me! (for some reason this is back in my life and haunting me, but only older stuff)
mirah
beat happening
gang of four
joanna newsom
the smiths (? I dont know why)
massive attack
portishead
thom yorke's new album
evan greer
kimya dawson

I dont really know what youre into these days, but I hope there's something on here you havent heard and will possibly love. :)

It makes me so incredibly happy that Thom Yorke's new album is on your list...I thought I was the only one who liked it. Actually, I have been listening to a lot of hip hop lately...but only the rediculous shit you hear on the radio, because that is the music of choice at work. So I'm definately up for checking out some hip hop I can listen to for reasons other than making fun of it. And thanks for the rest...I'll give it a try.

VNV Nation. the dude is one of the best lyricist i've heard in a long time. plus the music is beautiful. try to find the songs Carbon or Legion (i think they were both off the album Future Perfect". Beloved is a good song also.

other than that, i think our tastes vary considerably. BT has a new album coming out the 28th. He's one of the most talented composers of our generation. this new album is supposed to be somewhere between electronic and classical (with vocals that are better than: "doo dah dah dee castles in the sky, blee blah blah"). umm...i could talk about him for hours but you could just look at the trailer for his new cd: http://myspace.com/mrbt
