OTEP!!!!
this entry is backdated to about the time i got home from the concert.
yeah, seriously. the band's name's Wicked Wisdom, & they played on June 30th w/ Otep. lucky for me i wasn't yet on the schedule for work so i got to choose what days i wanted off & chose Thursday so i could make it to the concert. then i realized i got to go in late on Friday. double lucky!! yay! so on to the other good stuff...
so pretty much all you guys reading this know i fuckin love Otep, and that it seems like every time the band's back home Jennie O & i go see them. this time was no different. i got me a new shirt, more H(ouse) O(f) S(ecrets) stickers, and some pins from this band called Sangre. we both wanted a spoken word cd by Otep but this guy took the last 1 not more than 1 min before us. damn him. hopefully it'll be up for sale on the website soon.
the 1st band was Nihil (i think they were 1st, @ least). pretty good but by the crowd reaction they weren't all that known. then was Sangre who were pretty good & i'll probably look into them more. despite the name, they sang in English. next was Devil Inside, who actually opened the Otep concert @ the Glasshouse back in May. they sounded much better this time & got the crowd going. after them pretty much everyone started coming down into the pit cuz they were probably expecting Otep next. by the setup it obviously wasn't true. we figured Wicked Wisdom was coming on next & we were right. ppl cheered for Jada (who's the vocalist) & it was interesting to see her w/ her hair all wild & wearing a huge t-shirt w/ the sleeves cut off & some big Nike shorts. she looked like someone had just woken her up & therefore was pissed off!! LOL. the music was definitely metal, though, even though ppl 1st thought otherwise. the way Jada sang reminded me of Kittie since there wasn't any growling. i think i'll look into WW more. Jennie O said Will Smith was in the V.I.P. section above but it was too dark to see for sure who it was.
and next....OTEP.
Otep came out looking oh-so-sexy like always & stuck her tongue out & made other "teasing" faces @ the crowd. she threw out some roses into the crowd but damn, didn't get 1 again. the 1st song was Battle Ready & the whole fuckin pit area moved! i actually got hit in the face but it just stung & luckily i didn't have a bruise. Jen & i got separated & i got stuck near the front were it wasn't really moving much. when they played T.R.I.C. (1 of my fav songs) i went all crazy but FUCK!! the crowd around me didn't move!! then Jen found me & i moved back, more towards the pit. i wish i was there during T.R.I.C. cuz damn, they played that song FAST. we stayed there the rest of the time, just semi-moshing & pushing some ppl from the pit as they came around. next time i'm gonna wear my boots & some Dickies cuz i wore jeans & chucks & my legs got hot & my footing wasn't as great. we're thinking of actually going into the pit next time, too. i need to buff up 1st! hehe. after the last song, the crowd chanted "one more! one more!" til Otep came back out to play March of the Martyrs, a new song that'll probably be on the next cd. sounded pretty good & it made me anxious to hear other stuff that may be on the new album. then we headed on home & it was around 1 am. for some reason i was in a fuckin daze cuz i was only going 65 mph on an empty when i tend to drive 80+!! i even pressed the gas harder & thought 70 mph was fast!! LOL, i didn't know what was going on!! but we got home safely so that's all that matters, i guess. good night, overall. love them rituals. :)
