Bah. Why did I listen to Souji and come to this silly place? I should know by now that scoundrel of a man has no good intentions in anything he does ( Read more... )

La la la. It's a rather nice day today isn't it? I poke my head into the restaurant, where I know I can find that grumpy Saitou-san.

"Helloooooo," I sit down and smile at Saitou-san. "You should know better than to eat other peoples' soba. Nothing compares to mine."

Are we in the past? Present???

"I really don't know what you're grumbling about, Saitoh-san. Soba is soba, and I've seen you eat every last morsel of anything that shares a resemblance." I really don't understand why he's so cranky and so picky all of a sudden. Hmm. Must be the nicotene clouding his brain.

I ignore him for the meantime as I take my seat opposite him turn a dazzling smile and greet Ayu-nee "Have you eaten?" I ask her. "My treat."

"Okita-san wants to treat me?" Even if I haven't eaten, I would never turn down such an offer. "I will share whatever you are having, Okita-san."

I smile back while hiding something in my bag that is moving about.

"How about a bowl of katsudon? And...eight pieces of ebi tempura--which of course we share. Sashimi, steaming miso--ooh, I think I'd like some nori crackers to go with that. And...what else are you in the mood for?" I reel off the demands of my voracious appetite, patting my stomach and hearing it grumble just by the mere mention of food. And my my...talk about grumbling!

...Wait a minute...

That's not me. I've never heard my stomach move around so much...I look at Ayu-nee curiously.

"Ne, ane-san, how long has it been since you've last eaten?"

Then again, it could be Saitoh-san...I shiver at the thought at just what might be moving around in his stomach...

"Oh," I look down, wondering... whether that noise was Saizou. "I didn't eat enough," I lie, still hiding Saizou under the table. "So all that you suggests sounds really good. Except perhaps we can change the katsudon to oyako-don?"

Saizou won't like it if we're eating pork!

I watch Souji and Ayu talk aimlessly about food that doesn't intrest me. I just want soba. Good soba.

At the rumbling sound I give a curious look towards Ayu, as it did come from her direction. Still was she capable of making that amount of noise?

"Make sure to make good use of Souji's offer, Ayu. I will be too." The shorter man was going to pay for this horrible trip to this equally horrible place.

"In any case, has either of you seen Nagakura lately?"

"Then oyaku-don it is!" I say a little too gleefully. I'm really not picky about what I eat...so long as I get to eat something.

The grumbling persists, and I ignore it. If only I could ignore Saitoh-san just as easily...

"On no you don't," I shoot him a glare after his comment about taking advantage of my generosity making good use of my offer. "You have enough money on you to cover your own expenses. I'm not spending a sen on icky soba." I give him an imperious huff.

"On the other hand, when did Nagakura-san arrive? I recieved no word on this!" Oooh joy. More wolves. All of the same litter.

I notice Ayu-nee's bag moving about and I begin to wonder. "Is that bag of yours alive by any chance?"

Hmm...the streets are quiet today. Slowly, I take a puff from my pipe as I walk down another of Kyoto's crowded alleys. The weather's good too, which is an improvement...

"What I wouldn't give for some akamiso right about now..."

Bit of an interesting restaurant ahead. Throwing caution to the wind, I enter.
