Well I commented this last night right before my internet died and it didn't go through. So, let me try again ...
I just hope Lost does not end that way for good, I do not want to think of Jack ending up that way and I actually really hope they pick up there next season. I like your idea of doing it off the island and the flashbacks on the island.
We are not supposed to know who is in the coffin, it's a mystery like everthing else on this show. The newspaper clipping seemed to show the name starts with a J so it could be John or James from that info but they also could have just used any old piece of paper but I would hope not since they know how the fans deconstruct these things.
Also, it was about 12 people who died I think but most of them being the others. So I have no idea where or how they got the number 5. Surprising since it wasn't a traditional spoiler, it came from mainstream media (tvguide cover)
