Can you be proud and humble at the same time?

Wow, it's been awhile since I've been here. Too many things going on and I just don't have time to hang out on LJ that much but I did have something I felt compelled to post. I consider myself to be a pretty humble person. I don't demand attention from others nor do I deem it necessary but I do know a few people who seem to always bring the ( Read more... )

It's a hard line to find between humble and proud. It's easy to see too much pride and when someone is to humble, but the healthy balance will always be a pain to find. We should be proud of our work and who we are, but we should also realize that everything we do is not perfection incarnate. We haven't chatted overly much, but you seem like a humble person and you're not obnoxious at all. Congratulations on the article!

Hey Jason! Let me tell you, I am my own worst critic so I never think anything I write is perfect. I will agonize over it up until the minute I post it and then sometimes as soon as I post it I'll be like "oh, I should have changed that to say this, etc." Do you write or anything like that? It kinda sounded like maybe you did with the way you worded your statement.

Being your own worst critic should be seen as a blessing and not a curse. Better for you to be hard on yourself than too easy on yourself, but even better to be completely honest with yourself. I do the same thing where I think to correct something I have written, but unless it is something major I convince myself that what I have written is my opinion at that point in time and if I alter it then I will just want to alter it again and again.

I am not a writer or anything of the sort, just long winded and picky about words, though I thank you for thinking I am. It's flattering.

I look forward to talking with you more and if you ever need someone to talk to I will be more than happy to lend an ear or two. Supernatural related or not. See you around and take care!
