Hahah man, this really was super fun to read. I love the Cyberpunk world and that your tone of voice for the narration AND for the characters fit right into it. You didn't go cheap on it, you built this world that is fun and worth taking a stroll through :-D
aw man, thanks so much! I feel with the cyberpunk genre, you have to kind of just *go* with it and take the cheese in stride, which is easier if it remains more noir and not all strangely Disneyfied, like what happened here. Difficult line to straddle not crossing into overkill, and I was definitely worried. So relieved this worked for you, and thanks for reading! :)
Dude, this is goddamn awesome. I freaking love the way you wrote it, fast paced and tightly knit with some really awesome details added in. I ESPECIALLY love the addition of Gerard Butler in here 'cause GUH that man is fine. <3 You're so damn amazing, sweetheart. I am BLOWN. AWAY.
shit, if only you could see me FLAILING right now!! I was so unsure about this one -- time management for the challenge was crap, iffy on the the future setting, forewent beta to rework the entire thing last minute -- lol, it was all so terrible. Needless to say, I am blown away by YOUR COMMENT, jeez. bb, you are too good to me, wah. :') (and your icon! that smug little bitch! Ever since THAT PICTURE, you know the one, I immediately flash to GB as JDM's man since JA is always otherwise preoccupied. <3)
I ADORE this. You have some awesome writing skills, I am so impressed. <3
FFFFF YES THAT PICTURE. I totally had that in mind while reading this and they really do make an awesome couple, all tough and scruffy and mmm. Yes. What were we saying? ;D
*eeeee* J2 Snow Crash! And even better than the original because the characters are actually three-dimensional! *squeee*
*clears throat*
I liked the Hardy Boys/Scooby Doo vibe of the students working things out, and the details about this 'verse that were casually dropped in in cyberpunk style. Perfect final line, too. Great story!
Snow Crashhhhhh!! God, I love that book. I've been wanting to do a full-blown fusion for ages, but there's just too much stuff contained in there to get it right. I thought Jared might've been Raven, actually, hah! *size-ist??* This challenge gave me a perfect opportunity to half-ass skim the surface of that world, instead. I was so tempted to get into the MetaVerse bit -- had to control myself.
Thrilled this worked for you, and that I didn't shame the stolen source too badly. Thanks so much for reading! :)
