The new pope has big ears. That's pretty much all I know about it at the moment.

A little more info, FYI from ptownnyc:

1) He was in the Hitler Youth
2) He fought in Wehrmacht on behalf of his native Germany during WWII
3) He comes to us straight from heading up the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Prior to being renamed a few decades ago, that group was known as - you guessed it - The Inquistion!

Apparantly he deserted the German army, however, or so reports I've seen state. Perhaps he got a conscience.

"Ratzinger was born in the German town of Marktl am Inn in 1927. Shortly before the end of WW2, he was drafted into an antiaircraft unit, and after the German surrender spent time in a prisoner of war camp. He was ordained in 1951, took part in the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s and became a cardinal in 1977."...
