Last Week's Comics Reviewed...

May 18, 2005 17:31

I read a lot of comics. That much is becoming painfully clear. Having an opinion on each of them, well…. Let’s face it, I am kind of opinionated, even if I don’t always force my views on others. Here, a week later, is my take on what I read last week. For some books I’m erring on the side of brevity.

Action Comics (Superman comics in general): I havent been able to read a Superman title in a very long time without being bored to tears. That said, I'm giving two of the titles a shot starting this month since Gail Simone is writing one book and Ed Benes is drawing another. These two kicked ass on Birds of Prey and their cred with me is enough to at least TRY the books out for a spin ( ... )

Are you a Birds of Prey fan?
And I have to admit to first picking up Hawkman for the chest hair!
And where exactly Wonder Woman is heading, and how Rucka has been allowed to meander for so long,is beyond me,but I cant help but stick with it.

I am so stone cold broke, I have to thank you for the synapsois, Joss weadon has really done some great stuff with astonishing but i think he is going at it like buffy, stuff in issue 1 will still have an impact in issue 100...

I just happened to come accross your journal through one of the comic book communities I belong to, probably the Gay Geeks Community. Anywho, I just thought Id mention that you're not the only one that feels that way about Gambit apparently, because its being canceled. Unfortunately Excalibur is also being canceled too, issue 14 will be its last :(. (I get most of my info from www.newsarama.com and www.comicscontinuum.com)

Having read Dr. Strange waaaaay back when, I seem to recall mystical barriers around his house that prevented all manners of unwanted intrusions, be it mystical, psychic or unnatural. Still, you would think he would "sense" Chuck's presence and allow him into his sancutary.

Did you see that really really bad movie mad in the 80s of Dr. Strange? OMG it was so icky. *pops bubblegum*
