Your screen name gives me the warm tingles - it always has.
BTW, you are fucking FINE in a suit; I walked past you in the Castro last week. You were busy chatting w/ 2 other gentlemen, and I doubt our 4 second exchange at Ruby Skye 1+ years ago made a lasting impression :)
Thanks for the compliment, and the words of encouragement. YES, I did notice you. You walked by pretty fast, and didn't look me in the eye... I was staring right at you! Did I notice a certain scruffiness about your face that day? I think so.
Various cultures have the tradition that when one passes some milestone or has some "life changing" experience, one might then take on a new name.
It's also common in some cultures to have a "Pen Name" or "Stage Name" -- partly, I think, to provide a separation between the public persona and the one that true friends interact with.
Yet another way of looking at it is that the "screen name" serves as a frame around the words you use, much like a frame around a picture. The picture frame doesn't change the painting, but different frames may emphasize different elements of the painting.
It sounds like you haven't had any life-changing experiences, and aren't too worried about the separation between personal and public, but maybe are looking for a new frame that might highlight different aspects of what you have to say.
I've had jawnbc for a number of years. Originally I was BCBear, but the bear=ginormous≠me thing made me consider BCCub. Which was already taken. Because I live in....BC
So I used Jawn for a long time, since I'm from NYC originally and that's how moy mutha sezzit: jaaaawn! dinnnah! Except some str8 guy on IRC pinched it. I hope he go lots of offers for (queer) sodomy. Becoming JawnBC seemed obvious.
I got bored with it and started with a new user name. Only to find it offered nothing except confusion for the odd person wanted to reconnect after a gap in contact. So I'm here again.
Dare I say it...it's my brand. *shudder*
I'm gutted your handle is false advertising *pout*
