#2 surely there is a motivation behind every action? don't you write and learn for personal development? isn't that a motivation?

yeah you are right, however i think perhaps i didn't quite articulate what i mean correctly. writing and learning is something i do for myself, subsequently i struggle to make myself do either because i have no deadline or outside motivation behind doing it and life is so much easier when you're sat on your arse watching t.v or talking about football. writing in particular is something i love to do but i find it so challenging at times that i go through periods of not doing any at all. whereas if i wrote for a purpose or somebody else (i.e. my essays at uni) then i work on them significantly more. so i respect those who can motivate themselves to work without some form of carrot dangling in front of them.

i see, yes i feel the same sometimes. it's annoying because i think sometimes it's more important to write for yourself than for specific projects.
