My biggest regret about my hiatus from LJ is that several of my LJ friends have been experiencing depression from various causes and to various degrees. I don't have any delusions about being able to make everything alright for everybody anytime, although that would be a handy miracle to be able to pull out of one's back pocket. my problem with lj is that a few of my friends are going through a few bad things... which i saw coming a million miles away... because of that it's really, really hard to bite my tongue. i have, but been difficult... and it's been hard not to start judging them because of it.

Biting your tongue while banging your head against the wall has got to hurt. ... ;-) ... Stop it!

Like me, when you see someone else in distress, you start to feel distressed yourself. However, using your judgment is important. You wouldn't be able to help anyone without it. But, communicating your own negative emotions is where one needs to draw the line. It makes me furious whenever religious fanatics propose that a good strong dose of guilt is all that anyone needs to solve their problems. That's actually a form of psychological abuse. ... >:-/
