Prophet Margin
He pays with isolation
for all the things he says
he pays for them in exile
still he prays for those who’d never call him friend
He loves to speak of opening eyes
helping the world to see
but first he has to show the world
that open eyes don’t have to be a painful thing
He refuses to pry them open
calls it individual choice
it may be a mortal option
but it’s an option not a sacrifice
He understands the prophet margin
he understands what’s at stake
he understands the need to get back to holding hands
to get over all the hate
He pays the prophet margin,
he knows it’s not an easy path
he pays the prophet margin
he just wants to do what right
He pays with his tears in the mornings
he prays with all his heart at night
weighs down his soul with his heart of gold
but he knows the price
of the prophet margin
He travels to new cities
speaks with strangers along the way
trades ideas and questions fears
he hopes to see gone some day
let’s go south for a little taste of soul food
let’s go north for a little bit of snow
let’s go east for a little bit of culture
let’s go west where there’s always a reason to go
There’s so many people out there
theres just so wonderful lives to meet
so many different people with different eyes
so many great things to see
And the world can’t continue like this he says
as he preaches to his enemys as much as he does his friends
and he says take the world in your hands
take the world in your hands
He pays the prophet margin,
he knows it’s not an easy path
he pays the prophet margin
he just wants to do what right
He pays with his tears in the mornings
he prays with all his heart at night
weighs down his soul with his heart of gold
but he knows the price
of the prophet margin
there’s a cost to doing buisness with the world
there’s a cost from caring for every lost boy and every lost girl
it taxes his heart it taxes his soul
but he pays the prophet margin he gets up and takes control
He’s willing to face the ridicule & pain of standing alone
He’s willing to face the world and boldy explain he claims the entire planet as his home
He’s been beaten for the things he says but keeps at it just as well
he’d rather be stoned to death a thousand times than watch the world he loves go to hell so....
He pays the prophet margin,
he knows it’s not an easy path
he pays the prophet margin
he just wants to do what right
He pays with his tears in the mornings
he prays with all his heart at night
weighs down his soul with his heart of gold
but he knows the price
of the prophet margin
