Well, it's done... Post-mortem, anyone?

It is with a big sigh that I acknowledge that Michael Scott is really gone, and without so much as a flippety flip to our Jan.  I can't believe it's over and yet, in some ways it seems long overdue to me.  I know I may stand alone on this, but I am still so disappointed at the turn Michael's character took with Holly.  He is now completely co- ( Read more... )

Thanks for bringing this article to our attention! It was really fascinating, especially the stuff about Jan. I only disagree with two things- that Michael led to Jan's personal destruction and that Holly Flax is dumb. As we all know, while Jan did do some self-destructing, Michael was also good for her in a lot of ways, and, as we saw this season, she's okay and happy now. And I don't think Holly Flax is dumb, just dorky/nutty. Actually, we really don't know what Holly's intelligence level is ( ... )

See, I'd have preferred him to go for his movie dream or his book dream or his improv comedy dream or his hockey dream for that matter. Those felt more real to me than the four months he's had with a woman on the rebound. His love for his hometown has been a huge part of the show since "The Client", if not before. His love for his job and his co-workers, from the beginning. I guess it's my impression that Holly is a trifler that keeps me from being happy for him. Yes, he also had a dream of picket fences and ketchup fights, but with her history and the way she so quickly dismisses Michael's dreams and attachments, I don't feel like Holly's the one to give it to him. Jan may not be the one either, but at least she let him have his dreams, and was happy for him realizing them. She even moved to Scranton to be with him. Hell, she was ready to ride the rails for him. Then again, I'm sure the writers aren't writing this with any doubts, but it's my gut reaction to the story arc, its fast forward pace and the many disconnects that ( ... )

Hm... truth is, I learned not to trust the writers when they say this time Jan will return for a LONG ARC (because they did, they said that this season and the last one) , but this? fucking disappointing. I expected something like 3 episodes or at least AN episode, one, something with a PLOT, you know?
I must say that I still like the show, but I'm not a follower anymore, more like watching it here on tv, which is a year late (season 7 will start here soon -.-). Turns out Michael took off with Holly to have a lovely life. It used to be a big no-no for me, but now, how cares.....
LONG LIVE SEASON 2~!
