Mild Amusement
Over the weekend, the a-e and the a-eMum were talking about members of the family tree. One of the uncles, as the a-e had suspected, was in fact gay. (Something that I imagine would have been hushed up in Holy Catholic Ireland of his era.) The a-e is still working on his family tree. Still some holes in it, primarily at the great-great grandparent level, where six of the 16 don't have any names at all. However, he has on order two marriage certificates that might shed some light on it ( Read more... ) -

The a-e, in his 43 years and change, has met comparatively few of his relatives in the flesh. One grandfather died in August, 1938, so obviously he never met him. One really shouldn't be giving the federales an interest-free loan, but the a-e will be getting about $2,000 in assorted refunds -- he just filed his federal and state tax returns. Replenishment of his savings account, which has been drawn down in recent years.
