What happened to you, Internet? I used to have so much more to say to you. You were like a toy that I never thought I'd get tired of playing with. The meal that I thought I could eat every day for the rest of my life. I guess I got busy? Distracted? Does the "seven year itch" apply to the Internet too? I don't know anymore. I know that with me, the transition from simply wanting and wishing for more fun times spent with friends to actually going out there and trying (with success!) to get just that has accounted for my decreased LJ output. Also, I think I've become more careful not only with my words but also with whom I share some of those words with. Not that I've become less trusting, but I guess with age comes the realization that out of so many people you know, there are only so many who actually know you and give a shit, and those people you could call or email to or go get dinner or beers with. And so, I really don't need to broadcast to the entire Internet all the things my mind is chewing on.

I think Facebook has been a pretty cool, nonMySpacey way to be socially networked (even two of my coworkers are my Facebook friends!) without having to be afraid that the privacy I need for my work is violated. It's also easier to give bite-size updates about myself there, which is just right for me right now. So I'm comfortable with that, and I'm still reading LiveJournal a lot, but am always thinking that it's too open and too cumbersome, and that there's too much stuff already here, and at the same time, too little ( ... )

I updated LJ three times in September and I think two of those were just posting gig playlists. There used to be a time when I updated at least once a day. That seems like half a lifetime ago. Real world priorities making the Internet take a backseat? How about that?
