Just Travis the band, not Barker, Randy or that dude who's dating Katy Perry.

I may not be going to as many shows as I once did (due in no particular order to: not as much disposal income, i.e. having a spare $30 for a ticket to see a band that I've seen before for half that and in a much smaller venue, not to mention the added costs of gas and drinks and merch; not finding as many interesting shows as before; laziness; ( Read more... )

Freaking Travis, I don't care what the haters say, I'll always love them.

Amen. Seeing them live renews your faith in them. I thought I was sort of over them when I saw them last year. Then, they put on an amazing show and I was instantly enamored all over again.

The thing I love most about them is that they genuinely come across as regular guys. But like the NICEST guys ever. The last two times I saw them they all gather at the front of the stage and sing "Flowers In the Window" on just acoustic and tambourine; it's that camaraderie that's so moving and contagious. You can't help but smile when they're on stage.

Ahhh! I can't believe they covered Thirteen! Thanks for posting that clip - made me weepy. I'm glad you had a fantastic time too! I totally agree with both you and 'anddreamofsheep' on sincerity and niceness of those guys, and the live experience renewing the love.

Yeah I'm so jealous of you guys. I saw them last year around November in Anaheim and they came out in boxing outfits to the "Rocky" theme. They started giving people high fives and it was my chance.. I gave Dougie a high five!! It was awesome since I've had a crush on him since I was 17 or so :-) I hadn't seem them for about 5 years and they really reminded me of why I loved them in the first place.. the sing alongs .. the happy music and their covers only make them better.

I was at that House of Blues show in Anaheim last year too! My friend and I were near the back though, but it was still as close to them as I've ever been. That was a pretty great show too.

I was all ready to bomb that Garbage "Thirteen." But then I listened to it and it's... not bad. I'll still side with Wilco for the best "Thirteen" cover. Which reminds me Alex Chilton is playing four blocks from my apartment while I'm on vacation. (I hear he doesn't play Big Star songs live anyway.)

I heard that Travis show was good from a couple people, glad you got to see them in a tiny place. That's always pretty cool. This girl I recently dated saw them in Cleveland touring for Good Feeling. I was like, "Oh, hell no." She also liked to bring up that she saw Pulp tour for This Is Hardcore.

Has the Wilco version been recorded or was it just something they did live?

I had no idea Pulp toured the US for This Is Hardcore. After looking it up, it turns out they only did 5 dates: 2 in DC, 1 in Boston, 1 in Toronto and 1 in New York. Man, why did the rest of the country get gypped?? (Wish I'd been cool/old enough in 1996 and 1994 when they played LA.)
