As long as you have a decent coat, hat, and scarf you should be OK. (hat = plain old beanie) If its windy, make sure the beanie can cover your ears.

For some reason, the last couple of winters spent on the east coast I never really felt cold unless it got below 15 degrees. For me, 15 degrees is when it starts hurting.

Just don't fall asleep outside. You'll die.

lololol

I have to go to Michigan in January, to visit the boy! I am so confused about what to wear. Am I allowed to wear my regular shoes in snow?? Does California even sell actual cold weather clothes, or just trendy, light-weight clothes that let you pretend you're experiencing different seasons? Josh seems to think I'll be fine, but I'm not sure I believe him.

Oh man sorry. I'm glad that when Lindsey and I did the long distance thing that we both lived in warm areas. I mean, Florida can get disgustingly humid, but better than that freezing your nuts off.

Time to visit and REI and pack like you're racing in the Iditarod!

So it's like 40 in Richmond today? That's not so bad. It was in the 30s at night in High Point last month and I had to scrape ice off the windshield -- and I didn't even wear a jacket for that. But for some reason 20 degrees sounds so much colder.

Do they sell scarves in Los Angeles, at all?

I dunno, man, maybe have the taxi driver swing you by an outdoorsman's hunting shop, or something. It's Michigan, you can probably find something lined with moose fur or the like. Get several; one thing you might not be used to is dressing in layers.

They actually do sell scarves out here. Awesome hipster ones that you can only wear for maybe a week out of the year without looking totally ridiculous. Although if you happened upon an east coaster they'd probably laugh at you. I actually own a couple of scarves so I'm covered in that department. I just wish my sweaters were a little bigger so I could layer and not look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Not so bad? But you're used to cold weather! YOU KNOW I'M A CALIFORNIAN RIGHT?? I think I'm obligated to whine anytime the weather gets below 50.
