And maybe this will kick-start me back into posting on a more regular basis. Like, more than once every quarter. Wouldn't that be nice?
1. What is your favorite genre to read?
Science fiction and fantasy, especially urban fantasy. I'll read other things (hell, my mother used to say if loo paper had words on it they'd need a crowbar to get me out of the khazi) but fantasy and SF are my first true loves.
2. What is the first romance novel you ever read and how old were you when you read it?
I don't think I've ever read A Romance Novel as such (Mills and Boon, Harlequin Romance etc). I've read things that had a strong romantic component -- the standout being A Civil Campaign, by Lois McMaster Bujold (oh, how I love that book), but not romance for romance's sake.
3. How many books -- paper or ebooks -- are in your existing TBR pile?
They're beyond counting, so let's not even try.
4. Do you read nonfiction? If so, from which sub-genre?
Oh yeah, I read non-fiction. I even write it sometimes. I like what's called "creative non-fiction" -- the stuff written from a personal point of view. Think Simon Winchester (although he's not the best example) or Bill Bryson's books. That kind of thing. I took a writing class in that kind of non-fiction last year and got an A.
5. Do you own an e-reading device? If so, which one(s)?
No.
6. Which one book have you re-read most often?
Ghu alone knows. It's not the kind of thing I keep track of.
7. How many library books do you have out right now?
Zero.
8. How do you mark your place in a book?
By either remembering the page number (I'm worse at that than I used to be) or using a bookmark. Bookmarks tend to be scraps of paper or whatever else is lying around. My current one is a chopstick wrapper from my local hole-in-the-wall Japanese place.
9. About how many books do you typically read in a month?
Zero to two, depending on the book and the month.
10. What was the last book that made you cry?
It's very rare for a book to make me cry. I can't think of the last time it happened.
11. What was the last book that made you laugh?
Snuff, by Terry Pratchett.
