Andy is in Serious Condition
I was visiting friends in Davenport, FL this past weekend and had left my skunk Andy with the veterinarian for room and board, and was set to pick him up tomorrow morning.
I just got a call this evening from the veterinarian. She informs me that he is lethargic, and was bleeding from one side of his nose. A chest X-ray showed that one of his lungs was filled with fluids, suggesting internal bleeding, yet there is no evidence of trauma. She is looking to see about making arrangements for a more detailed emergency diagnosis, including ultra-sounds tonight.
As I was typing this, I got a call from the veterinarian. She found an "exotics" specialist in Tampa that can take him in tonight for observation and do what it takes to take care of him. I'll be picking him up this evening and taking him across the state.
