Airplane Ownership

Many of you who know me well know that I love to fly. For a long time, I've contemplated buying my own airplane. This past Friday, I attended the Sun 'n Fun Airshow in Lakeland, Florida with convoy_dvnprt. While there, I took another look at the one plane that I really liked. The Diamond DA-40. I even got to sit in it:

It's a shame ownership costs are just so prohibitive for the majority. Even group ownership is out of reach for many. For me, I'd have to have a huge lottery win. Even if I ever get back to having a regular level of income, it'll not be enough.

That said though, I'd itching to try a DA40 myself. There are some based at Shoreham/EGKA and so I see them flying around here most days. They seem extraordinarily quiet.

Oh, that IS a pretty little thing! I can see why you liked it.

Ouch, sounds like owning one would indeed be prohibitively expensive, though. (I'm quite amused that aviation fuel would still be significantly cheaper than regular plain old car fuel is here, though.)
