Weeks 1&2

Well it’s nearly week 3 already and there is so much to do! These feelings of being so busy and you don’t know where to begin with all the assignments and the general flow of uni life.

I have to have another whinge though and that’s because I feel that by being told or given a question to write about takes away from our personal and creative ( Read more... )

I agree with you Michelle. I can understand that MG was trying to get people to contribute to LJ, but by making it harder, not easier, he is not only not getting the people not participating to join in, but alienating the people who have embraced it. Yes, at first it was hard to get into LJ, but by having more options, most of us have found a way to make it our own ( ... )

It's probably a little late, but I agree! Damn the man!
Sure, I have nothing to do with this Literature course and haven't actually read anyone else's journal entries, but I am disappointed that what started out as a brilliantly original course component has been rigidly formalised. My greatest enjoyment of LJ (when I was doing when I was supposed to) was writing irrelevant poetry and finding correlations between my art and literary studies. You guys shouldn't be coming up with the answer, you should be coming up with the question!

Hi Michelle and Anissa- it is good to hear this response. I do essentially agree with you both- was trying to appease those who said they needed more guidance. I think the strategy next semester will be to make a set topic optional... then all should be happy- what do you think?
Cheers
MG
Having said that Michell- I think your comments on Binsey Poplars are awesome... and would not have happened if not asked for! I wonder (can't remember) whether writing this actually helped you in your exam?????

Hi Michael,
A little backward here in the response but yes, I certainly would appreciate the set topic being optional. I can understand people feeling stuck. Sometimes flashes of inspiration happen when you least expect them (or in my case, once semester is over!) and we all need a bit of a push.
You can't please all the people all of the time but I think that would please most people while still staying true to what you wanted Live Journal to be.
