I have no idea, but I found this book of slang which says it's "special correspondent." Does that make any sense in context? I really don't know at all.
ETA: And here, it says, Noun. Abb. starting price. Meaning information and heard in expressions such a what's the SP? meaning what's happening, or what's the information? Comes from horse racing and betting vernacular. E.g."What's the SP with the holiday accommodation? Are we staying in a hotel or apartments?"
