It was a good idea to push Lemon into playing Sarah Palin because: it's brought TGS a new sort of buzz and the attention has given Lemon a boost in her confidence. (She doesn't entirely enjoy portraying a woman whose values run counter to whatever Democrats consider to be values, but there is no woman who disdains a compliment.) It was a bad idea because: it's made it more difficult to ignore Lemon's attractive, womanly qualities. Before, Jack could keep a lid on his burgeoning desire for her by reminding himself that she is his friend and that, when he first met her, she wasn't even close to the sort of woman he'd like to explore in a more intimate, clothing-free way. But, when he watches her pretend to be someone else, the past and the present become less important and all he can think of is, yes, a more intimate, clothing-free future.
He manages to hold out until week number three. Then, after the cold open that Lemon as Palin is the star of, he finds himself sidling up to her backstage, holding her arm as he leans close and whispers this information: he very urgently needs to speak to her. In private.
He has his hand on her back as they walk to her office and, when the door is closed, she exhales.
"What did Tracy do? Is he getting arrested? Because you need to tell them to wait until after the Tyra Banks sketch."
He steps closer to her, keeping his eyes on her face instead of her chest. He thinks she'll find it a more pleasing prelude to his advances. "No, Lemon, there's nothing going on with Tracy." Nothing he's currently aware of, but he doesn't say that part aloud; such a comment might make her wonder if there is something going on and would break her concentration from him. "You look very... attractive tonight."
"Okay. Thanks." She glances down at her outfit, and he allows himself a moment of focus on her cleavage. Her breasts look great in red. "I guess. What did you need to talk to me about?"
"I actually don't wish to talk."
Most other women would understand what he's getting at, but Lemon seems puzzled, tilting her head and studying him with a bit of wariness. He's not surprised by her response. "Okay?"
Jack takes off her glasses and throws them over his shoulder -- he doubts she cares about the fate of the Sarah Palin frames -- and leans forward. She acquiesces to his kiss, doesn't push his hands away when he rests them at her sides.
Oddly, he wasn't expecting her to be without hesitation.
Jack steps forward and she steps back, and they keep going until her back is pressed against the door. She lets out a soft moan as she leans back, and he places a few kisses on her neck before returning to her mouth. Her hands are on the back of his neck as this kiss deepens, while his hands move downward to cup her ass. He lifts her up and she lets out a surprised gasp as she wraps her legs around him. The red skirt rides up, bunching around her waist. He's pressed hard against her, one hand stationary on the back of her leg as the other travels over her thigh. She's still wearing pantyhose, and he imagines how much more satisfying this position will be when they're both wearing nothing.
But he's getting ahead of himself.
He may even currently be ahead of Lemon, as she's looking at him with wide eyes. "Um, Jack?"
"Yes?"
"I'm not ready to have sex with you."
He's unsure if she means at the moment or for the entirety of the evening, but he decides to reply to the former. "And I haven't removed any of your clothing, let alone what I would need to in order to have sex with you. Now, I'm just... kissing you."
He can feel and see her relax, so he closes the small amount of distance between their mouths. It's barely started before she's stopping him.
"Wait," she says. "Do you want to make out with me or Sarah Palin?" There's an uncomfortable mix of teasing and concern.
He ponders her question for a moment. "If I'm being honest... both, I suppose." He lets out a breath before he kisses her cheek. "But I'd much prefer you."
She half-moans as he brushes his lips over her skin. He kisses the corner of her mouth. "Because Todd Palin would run you over with his snowmobile?"
"Because... I simply prefer you."
When his mouth is back on hers, her legs wrap tighter around him.
Perhaps having Lemon play Sarah Palin was an entirely good idea.
