"What's going on?" Beyond the fact that they're on her couch, and he's kissing her neck. "Not literally. Don't take the question literally."
"I'm saving you."
He follows this sentence by sliding his hand down the front of her pants, and she almost laughs because it's such a weird thing to say before you... use your fingers on someone. "You--" Her breath hitches. "--are saving me."
"You're not going to stay married to a man you feel the impulse to cheat on mere hours after your wedding."
"Jack--"
"You care for me more than care for him. We're more compatible. I'm superior to him; more successful, more handsome--"
She arches toward him. "You've never seen him."
"I can only assume I'm right."
There's a debate that could be had here, but she supposes it doesn't matter. Regardless of which of them is better looking, she prefers Jack's face; she has less of a desire to punch it.
And sometimes, just seeing him makes her happier.
He pulls up a side of her shirt -- that's the good boob, awesome -- and kisses her skin. She grips the back of his hair in a lift up your head way. He gets it.
"Are you saying I should settle for you or that I don't have to settle?"
"I'm saying I want you to be with me. I have no desire to settle. Being with me wouldn't be settling."
Liz can't say she's always wanted Jack, but she can't say she never has. She can't say she doesn't.
Later, in her bed, he says something like: You must admit this shouldn't be relegated to the end of the week, and she mutters, Shut up, after she catches her breath.
Then: "Oh God, I got married today. And now I'm naked with you."
"It's better than being naked with your husband."
She doesn't reply.
