After he finds out that Elisa killed her husband after she caught him with another woman, he worries about cheating because he *has to*. Like, 'what if he finds himself stranded in a snow cave with a stern, but comely geologist, both of them knowing that their only chance at survival is the heat from their naked bodies'? This is mentioned in the fic, though, so, you don't really need to know that, exactly. But that's where this comes from, and it's AU-y.

I'm glad you liked it! I must say, I had a lot of fun writing this, and the ~crazy~ Jack/Liz/Carol stuff, so perhaps I am moving on from my internet career as 'angsty fic writer' and shifting on to 'wacky scenario lady.' (Well, probably not. I like causing sadness.)

Hey, well, I like both angsty fic writer and wacky scenario lady, especially when either one means really tropey but awesome fic. Not that this was REALLY tropey, it was just setup + AU, but it was enough to make me very happy!

Also, in the interest of sharing relevant information, in my head they sleep together a couple more times before he leaves, and then they "casually" keep emailing, until about a month later when Jack decides he has to go back to Alaska on business, and things awkwardly progress, ET CETERA.

So you win either way! :) I'm glad it made you happy. (I think the next thing I finish up will be more angsty. I kind of put the longer, sadder things I was writing on hold because it wasn't doing my mood any favors, but now it's time to bring that stuff onto the front burner.)

In my mind, they definitely do more stuff to each other/meet up again. For the record.

I really enjoyed it. And it made me oddly happy that Dennis exists in this AU world. (Actually, he's a fitting Todd Palin stand-in.) It was very cute and charming, especially Liz's early attempts at seduction, and her surprise when Jack said he liked her ass. I hope they ended up together in this alternate universe.

Also: Wow, it has been a while since I've used a Jack/Liz icon.

Thank you! I did spend some time thinking about who if any of Liz's boyfriends would exists in this universe -- I was thinking about mentioning others -- but Dennis was the one that I felt I needed to transplant to Alaska. (Hee.) I like to think they ended up together, too.

I do feel like it's been a bit since I've seen you use that one!
