There is no smutty smut in this. I was expecting smutty smut in the next thing you posted...!

In on topic news, this story is depressing.

I should have specified that that it would be the next long thing I posted! (Though LJ alerts wouldn't have told you, THIS IS A DRABBLE, DON'T EXPECT PEOPLE TO BE PANTSLESS, so I assume you would have gotten your smut hopes up anyway. And, even if I had specified and LJ told you it was a drabble, it could have been a smutty drabble anyway. I am losing the point of this digression!)

It is depressing, yes. But on the plus side... I got nothing. Everything is a bummer here.

it is so sad when a woman is catching at getting married as at a straw, as a last chance
she is lying to herself, to Jack, to everyone saying "Maybe I fell in love with him." But she is 40 already and who knows if she has another shot... Life is tough, definitely

The idea of Liz settling or ending up alone bums me out. But either is likely, probably.

What's more depressing, this story or the fact that I could totally see this happening on the show?

Bummer.

Smut soon, please!

I do think it would be treated more light-heartedly on the show... but it would still be kind of a bummer. And, in terms of the personal lives of these characters, Jack's daughter being motherless is more of a bummer than a Liz/Wesley wedding, so it would be a ray of sunshine by comparison.

SAAAAD.

I like the idea of Jack being unhappy with her settling, even when she's trying to be okay with it. Dude, you should have gotten in there while you had the chance!

I want to go back when we could watch new episodes and be genuinely hopeful. :)

I do like to think Jack would be unhappy with her settling. I mean, he did blow her off when she first talked to him about Wesley, but he is capable of being more attentive to her and I think he does want the best for her.

This show has gotten weirdly dark in general. Like, I don't think they would have done, "Jack's wife/the mother of his baby gets kidnapped/forced into marriage by a dictator" in season two. Man, I miss season two.
