Any other Art+Des students thinking about transfering? I know I am, though I'm not really sure where else to go. I just want a place with a competent art program where I can choose what classes I want to take..
good god, I would be... if it wasn't for the fact that i think the only reason why i am doing art here is so i can get into LSA... this place is screwy.
i'm spending the next semester doing all LSA classes, and starting a new student gov't against the current curriculum to change it, because it definitely needs change. me and about 15 others are going to try what we can during this next semester, and if nothing happens, we're out.
Damn, I'm jealous! All LSA courses?! How did you manage to do that? All I could to was *maybe* get out of ADP if I really don't like it next semester (meaning: if I fall asleep in every class). What's this new gov you're starting and how can I get in on it? I was so pissed about that article in the Daily that said that SAS was basically leaving the curriculum as it is, when it SUCKS.
I considered transfering from LSA to A&D at Michigan but decided against it after looking at their curriculum and their horrible website (although the new one has more eyecandy, it's still nothing big as far as content goes). Like zigziggityzoo said, I'd transfer to another art and design school if you could. I would, except I seem to be in the same predicament as you two: I wouldn't have a strong enough portfolio (and art and design schools cost SO MUCH). I wouldn't mind the work though, if I could get in and if I had the money to pay for it.
I know who you are; I just didn't know if you remembered who I was (at least by this screename).
I'm still not sure on the Art and Design thing... I'm pretty sure UM Art and Design would be the only place I could get in to, and if I really want to do it, why not give it a try? I'm so indecisive.
im not in a&d, but i thought i could offer a bit of insight. i know a few people in a&d at western and they really liked the program there. that might be a place to go to build a stronger portfolio before going to an art school.
western has a great program when it comes to Graphics Design/Pre-industrial Design, but for me, it's just too close to home. Their program is also aimed at people who have never really done much art (they don't require a portfolio to apply), but they make you a good artist if you really want that.
Your best bet is just to do some online research and find out what you want, and what will fit you best.
