The worst part about college

The worst thing about college is the frequency with which your fellow students die.  You may not know them, but just hearing about it is awful because there's something you share with that person, and that's living in the same place as you, attending the same classes or classrooms with you, eating the same food you do, living so close to you.  And

Well, she was sick with what everyone thought was the flu for a few days. It's so unfortunate; she seemed so well and and lively.

It's crazy. I have a friend who goes to Illinois State, and just this year, eight people on campus died. It really makes you think...

It does. We've had a number of deaths at BGSU this year. Some suicides, some unknown causes, some car accidents. However, this one has bothered me most because I actually knew Hilary and I know many of her friends. I keep imagining a void in all the places she used to be--outside her door, in the dining hall, in the lounge. I really can't believe it.
