Send Back the Coleslaw

It's bloody hot today so, rather than cooking at home, I picked up some goodies from the new Flaggstead barbecue in Farmington. This is supposed to be Texas barbecue so naturally I ordered the brisket. And how about those beef and pork ribs, yeah those too. Gotta have variety and all ( Read more... )

I think it is actually illegal for BBQ joints to order ingredients like "mango" or "avocado".

Haha. After reading this I decided I had to get some barbeque. Needless to say, a place with "GIT U SOME!!!" on their window does not server green beans with shallots and vinaigrette so I had beans and potato salad with my ribs.

I'm with you, no question about it, I'd prefer the salad to mac&cheese. (As a side dish, at least.)

The BBQ joints in NC that I've visited have generally served vinegared coleslaw rather than mayo-based. It's a huge improvement.
